Social Media Marketing & Branding Research Series
This is an introduction to a series of blog posts I'll be publishing. I'm interested in how businesses show branding on social media platforms. I will research how to show a brand without using the logo as an indicator, which is sometimes not suitable for the platform such as Instagram. Some areas include voice and tone (sarcastic, humourous), style (colours, fonts, photography), text (copy-write and conversations), and values (sustainability, culture).
I want to learn how to write and visualise social media posts to be instantly identifiable as a brand's presence. I want to uncover the reasoning and psychology behind making images and copy-writing for posts that lead to a brand's image. I think this knowledge would be useful for a professional digital marketing job as running social media accounts is often a job requirement and all content must be branded.

The theme of my next items will be Stars & Moons. I was inspired by the prints of Art Gallery Fabrics that had half moons and tiny stars repeated in the pattern.
The prints I have chosen to use from Art Gallery Fabrics are "Adelajda" and "Keeping Watch" which can be seen below. I find their illustration to be charming, whimsical and so well drawn in terms of creating a specific sense of a style.
In my stash of fabrics I have some prints that will go great with the Stars and Moons theme, like the tiny gold star print which can seen here. It is very similar to one of their prints and on the same linen material fabric.
I'm excited to see what I can make with this theme!
It has certainly injected some fun into my projects!
My coin purse and lunch tote have been made using a lemon print which is circling Instagram, local shops and Etsy right now. I particularly like the bags and clothing that are being made from lemon prints and posted on Instagram with the hashtag #lemonprint at that link and on Etsy.com. Another lemon print is in the lining to add fun to this novelty printed item.
Bright Yellow, White and Deep Green
These bright yellow flowers always inspire me with their vivid colour. They belong to a 'gorse' bush and follow the same bright yellow and deep green colours of a lemon tree.
Vivid Colours in Venice
My trip to Venice in Italy inspired me to use these colours to make my summery purses. The buildings in Venice were painted in pastel and coral shades of pink and darker shades of orange. The shutters on the windows were painted in dark green and teal colours. The architecture there was very inspiring for it's colours and quirky window designs. It was easy to fall in love with these colours and it gave me ideas for the colour palette I would use for my brand.
The Summery Wrist Purses
The pink and orange painted houses brought a vibrant summer feeling to the island of Venice. When it came to making my wrist purses I knew they would be used outside and I wanted them to be bright and colourful so that they would look the part to use while out and about in the spring, summer weather. While looking for fabric to use I found the Liberty Tana Lawn Collection which had many beautiful prints in these shades of pink and yellow, as mustard is very trendy right now and pink is always in fashion.
